Lipstick is just one of those things that I would love to wear on an everyday basis, but I rarely use. When first applied it looks beautiful but after a few minutes, I look like I've been through a world of hurt with crusty lines throughout my lips. The feels of dryness are truly unfortunate, especially during this time of year where the weather is cold and drying. I've tried applying lip balm and Vaseline to my lips before applying lipstick in hopes of some how maintaining the moisture while wearing lipstick. Unfortunately, it rarely works.
Of course, I have secretly only tried this twice.
I recently heard about Rimmel London coming out with some new lip products that are supposed to help maintain the moisture within your lips while giving you a beautiful color that does not create that unattractive feathering of the lips. I must admit that I was skeptical about spending my money and trying it, considering many companies make claims about their products that are untrue and I am cheap. I mean everyone wants to purchase a product that actually gives results, right? So I decided that I would just wait this product out for a few months until I saw enough online reviews on it to see if it was really worth it. I recently received an Influenster Voxbox (Moda Voxbox) and to my surprise, I ended up receiving the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lip Liner and the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick (Rimmel's Moisture Renew lip products)!! I was super excited about it because I wanted to try it and I received the chance to, FOR FREE!!! I actually wore it about 5 times since I've received it, so now I can do a full review on the both of these products.
Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lip Liner
Upon first applying it I thought that it would glide on with a consistency of some sort of slick oil, but it didn't. You could barely feel it on your lips. The matter/body of the liner was stiff, which is great because it won't break off easily when applying it. It has a faint smell, but it's barely noticeable until you put the lip liner right by your nose and focus on the smell. It glides on clear, creating a moisturizing barrier that will help your lips maintain the smoothness of the lipstick. However, I will say that you don't really feel any extensive moisture until after the lipstick is applied.
It comes in a twistable container, which means it doesn't need to be sharpened.
It does create some sort of moisture and it seemed as though my lips were softer.
The lip liner does tug a slight bit on the lip, but it isn't a bad process to keep those lips moisturized.
Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick
I received this lipstick in the color "As You Want Victoria" 360. It looks like a combination of magenta and red. If you're looking for a magenta colored lipstick that is highly pigmented, you will definitely love this color. It smells really good. It reminds of some sort of body wash, but I can not remember what kind. It glides on your lips with a creamy consistency. I just swiped it on my top lip, rubbed my lips together, and pure perfection. The fact that you do not have to build it up to create a more vibrant color is a plus, considering the color is already vibrant. This also means that it will last for a while. It's a bold and fun color. Perfect for a night out on the town. I wore this throughout the day and I noticed minimal feathering. I wore this lipstick for about 6 hours, at the longest. I reapplied probably once every single time I wore it.
It is highly pigmented.
It does moisturize and makes lips appear to be soft.
You won't have to apply a ton of lipstick to keep your lips moisturized or to keep the color from fading, which means you won't have to make another purchase for a while unless you want to try the other colors.
You will definitely need to reapply, but most lipsticks require reapplication after a few hours.
Overall, is this lip liner and lipstick worthy of being bought?
I would definitely purchase the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick again, but in another color. I want to see if the other colors are as pigmented as this one. The vibrant color and the fact that my lips did not go through a cracked world of hurt was lovely. As far as the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lip Liner is concerned, I would probably buy it again as well. I tried wearing the lipstick by itself and I did notice a slight bit of feathering in comparison to the non-feathering when I wore the lip liner. To be honest, I think my skin texture could also be a variable. Some lipsticks and lip liners work well on other people's lips and some don't. I have dry skin and my lips tend to chap easily, so if you're like me... This would probably be ideal for you, but everyone's skin/lips are different. All I can say is try it out for yourself.
